Second Marking Period 11-20

Task #11

At first during this task I was very confused. I first tried to upload the jpg of past projects to the flyer to save time but it ended up taking longer than starting over. That was when I just decided to that I could do the steps that really matter to make the text. For example the glass text tutorial has a lot of steps. Instead of doing all the steps I did the key steps of lowering the fill opacity and changing a setting to transparency  shapes layer. These two settings are what really make the text look like glass. Besides this first mistake the task from then on was pretty easy. One thing that I did uniquely in this project was the effect on the text that describes the program. For this step I used the skills that we learned in previous assignments to create a drop shadow and I also outlined the texts in white so that they could stand out and could be read easily.

For this task I added a pattern to the dress. My first step was to find a dress and a pattern to use. I choose this dress because I liked the color and there was no one in the picture posing with it. I chose the pattern because it looked fun and very colorful. Then I opened the picture on photoshop and used the magnetic lasso to select the dress. This was at first hard to do because it was not going along the dress but I got a hang of it and eventually was able to outline the dress perfectly. The next thing that I did was add the pattern to the dress layer by using ctrl+A, ctrl+C, and ctrl+V. Then I moved the pattern to cover the dress. Then I put the pattern on the dress by selecting create clipping mask and changing the opacity of the pattern to 20%. The final                                                                                     product looked very nice.

Original Poster

For this assignment we mimicked a poster that was created by the Food Bank of New York. My poster has a gradient background and I chose to focus on a burger called the Big Mac from McDonalds because  it is something that a lot of people eat and it is very unhealthy. I replaced the burger with an apple because it has a shape that could fill the space and it is very good for you. Apples boost the immune system and helps to reduce cholesterol in the body. My catchphrase is bite into something juicy because when I hear it I think of a burger. On the one change poster there is a food bank logo, a disclaimer and the phrase "don't change your life. Change one thing. Learn more at eatwiseteens.org" so I added that to my photo. There is also an outer glow in the original picture around the pizza box that I mimicked in my poster.

Task #14 A

Task #14B
For assignment #14 we learned how to place a picture over a background with texture. The picture on top was supposed to look like it was painted on to it. Task 14 A was practice. I used the Jamaican flag and put it upon a brick wall. I made a mistake during this task when I put the effects on the brick layer. I learned that the effects was supposed to be on the flag so that it could have the textured look that I wanted.
For task 14 B we just replaced the brick wall with a selfie. I also had to erase the flag so that it fit around my face and I also erased the flag from my eyes and mouth because makeup wouldn't go there.

For this task I used motion blur and median to make the picture look as if it was taken in motion. I used a car that was sitting on the road. From their I followed the tutorial. Something different that we did this was task we opened up the picture as a smart object. Opening the picture as a smart object allows me to get a detailed picture. A smart filter is a method that has more editing options. The difference between the two is that smart filters are able to provide advanced photo editing without changing the pixels. The smart filter also allows you to remove effects form places where you don't want it to be. The normal filter is unable to do this. The end effect of the picture is a picture that looks like it is in motion.

Task #16
This was one of my favorite task. I was able to change a feature an image of a person. I used Natalie Portman. Her eyes were brown in the beginning. When I placed the quick mask over it the eyes they turned red. Quick masking is a mode that allows the editor to select certain parts that they would like to edit. The quick masking is better to use because it is more specific. You are able to make more detailed selection because you are able to mask the entire section. A lasso can also make selections but it can't outline detail like the quick mask. I also find it easier to do.  I filled the eyes with a green color. The final image has a different eye color without changing anything else in the picture.

Task 17
The task of this project was to put a soft glow on a picture of my choice. I choose a picture of Liam Hemsworth. I added a smart filter and the Gaussian blur . I also added a layer mask so that I could erase parts of it to remove the effects from places that are not skin such as the eyes, mouth, hair and background. The first picture doesn't have the soft glow. Wrinkles in the skin and discoloration could also be seen. The soft glow makes the wrinkles and discoloration look less defined. Many photo editors do this for that reason. I added a smart filter and the Gaussian blur . I also added a layer mask so that I could erase parts of it to remove the effects from places that are not skin such as the eyes, mouth, hair and background.

Task 18

This was the first thing that I ever created on Adobe Illustrator. At first I didn't understand anything. about the tools. Then I realized that the tools were very similar to the ones that I used on Adobe Photoshop. Then it was easier to do. The link to the tutorial I used is at the bottom of this picture. The final product was nice and actually looked like a real 3D picture. Something that makes the picture actually look real is the gradient. The gradient makes it look like light is bouncing of the sides and that makes it look more dynamic. I hope that in the future we are able to do more realistic pictures of objects and people.

Task 19 A
For this task we practiced various tools that help you create shapes. To practice we wrote out our name using the tools. The first thing I did was create boxes using the rectangle tool so that we could no what space we have to work in. Then I used the line segment tool to create a shape that resembled the letters. I used the arc tool to create the e. For the s I wanted to do something that was creative so I created an s that created just from line segments and no arc segments that it would normally be created by. I used the shapes later on to decorate my last name.

This task was just further practice in using the tools but instead of using tools that could create shapes, we discovered what different pathfinders could do. The pathfinders that we used was the minus front and divide. The minus front deletes anything that is covering it. In the first example with the blue square and the pink box, when the pathfinder was pressed the part of the square covered by a rectangle was erased. The second example was created in a similar way except this time using a rounded rectangle and a circle. The third was the divide function. A yellow rectangle was placed over the picture that was previously created and when the divide pathway was pressed the circle was divided by it. I then chose the white arrow to select and delete the rectangle reveal the image below. This task has taught me how to use the pathfinders.

Task #20
Day 1: step 1-6
For these steps I created rounded rectangles and filled it with a gradient that made it look like light was bouncing off of the phone giving it a more realistic look.

Day 2: step 7-14
For these steps I created the screen of the phone. This involved using the using a gradient and using two boxes with different opacities. When the opacities was reduced the screen showed a reflective glare that made the screen look more realistic. Along with the screen I created to buttons that looked like it had depth because we created circles within a circle.

Day 3: step 15-23
For these steps I created the control panel for the phone. For this step I began using shapes, the rounded rectangle and the circle.  In order to create the circle I used the pathfinders minus front and divide. To complete the control panel I placed arrows and symbols on to the keys that were created.

Day 4: step 24-28
The buttons were created in these steps. Surprisingly for all the buttons there are only one was created by rounded rectangles and a gradient. The rest were created by multiplying the button using the transform tool. The numbers, letters and symbols were then placed so that it could look like a real telephone.

Day 5: step 29-33

These steps involved creating the speaker. The circle for the speaker was created using the ellipse tool. Then a gradient mess was used to add depth to the circle. Two smaller circles and three even smaller circles were placed inside the first circle to give the appearance of a speaker.
